Ethical Search Engine Optimisation Services: All This Talk about Link Building

These days, trying to improve your website search engine ranking can be a long and frustrating nightmare. Being a search engine optimisation specialist and having established my own business, many clients seem to be confused about the long process of how to build website presence in the search engines. Having built my own site from scratch and having struggled to get the desired ranks, one thing is for sure, it does take time.

Many seem to believe that link building will get you the desired ranks in no time. That is quiet wrong. Whilst there is a lot of talk about link building, many seem to forget the basics of website optimisation (content, coding and tags). Search engines like Yahoo! place strong emphasis on these basics whilst Google may favor factors outside our control such as link popularity. So how do we satisfy all search engines?

Notes are as follows:

1. Focus on the things that can be done at your end. This includes:

- Writing efficient code with as much scripting placed into external files.

- Select targeted keywords that do not have a large number or competing pages so that you have more chance to win position for them.

- Write keyword rich content.

- Have Title and Meta tags that are keyword rich and reflect what is written for a page.

2. Directory submissions are a key factor. Some may charge a price for inclusion whilst others may not. It is highly recommended that directory submissions are made simply because a human editor will look at your site, which in turn gives you more points with the search engines.

3. One of the most difficult points to fulfill is link building. If you have a site that offers useful information and services, in time it will generate the required links. There are other ways to speed the process such as writing articles and posting them on certain websites. However, the key factor to link building is not to obtain irrelevant links. This will simply be regarded as spamming and could result in negative consequences.

4. Lastly, the most important point, PATIENCE.

To recap, provided you follow the basic steps and have the patience, your site will climb up the ranks steadily. Link building will help improve your ranks but be careful because it can also harm your visibility if used in the wrong way i.e. obtaining too many links from non-related websites.

Search Engine Optimization Pricing

Search engine optimization pricing is really a difficult number to come up with. And if you want proof, just check out all of the companies out there offering search engine optimization (SEO). These companies’ prices are all over the place, but mostly because they offer different twists and services within their SEO program. Below are some of the items you should look at when comparing search engine optimization pricing.

  1. Don’t look at price. Look at the services. If you look at price, you will end up deciding on a service based on price and not value or what you really need. There are plenty of people and companies out there offering full blown web site SEO for dirt cheap prices. Be careful of these, because you will get what you pay for.
  2. If they tell you they can guarantee #1 ranking in less than 30 days, I would be skeptical. This usually ends up involving black hat techniques, and is a short term fix. Also, it might get you fully banned from the search engine index.
  3. Ensure they offer the basics: title tags, Meta tags, optimization of certain areas of the text, and keyword density. These are basics in SEO.

Here are the additional goodies, which can add a tremendous amount of value:

  1. Do they offer search engine submissions? This will allow the one stop shopping. They will optimize the site, and submit it. This is good for you and that company doing SEO. They can ensure your site was submitted properly, and follow up with it each month and track its progress.
  2. Do they offer one way link building? This is a must. Reciprocal links do not work. You need a link out there pointing directly to your website. Companies now are offering this service. If you choose this awesome service, ensure they are not submitting to FFA type sites. Also, ensure the sites are at least PR2 or higher. Some will even offer PR5 and PR6 sites, but be prepared to pay for this.
  3. Advice: Do they offer advice and support? I would hope so.

Search engine optimization is not a 100 meter dash. It is a marathon. It takes time to build the links and get the site optimized. And, over time, your site will begin to increase in the rankings. Just remember to look at the above items when trying to compare search engine optimization pricing.

Titles, Description & Keywords - Still the Big Three

Title

The importance of a title cannot be emphasized enough, because the title of your Web site appears in the browser window, as the title for Google search results, in bookmarks and many other places. If you want to get it just right, follow the below tips:

  • Make sure your most important keyword or keyword phrase is included in your title
  • Keep it short
  • Make it descriptive
  • And never use the word HOME in your home page title…it’s pretty meaningless!

For a clearer picture, consider a site that focuses on “web page optimization.” A possible title could be “Web Page Optimization Tips“. The title, like a subject line in an email, may be the single most important feature in getting people to click on your link, since it’s the first thing they’re likely to see. It’s also one of the first things a search engine will see when crawling your page.

Description

The description is also very important because it’s what Google uses when displaying your search engine listing. To create a great description, consider this:

  • Use your most important keywords
  • Keep your writing tight…don’t fill it with fluff
  • Include a call to action, so people are encouraged to click on your link.

Keep in mind that when someone searches for a keyword, search engines show your description, so it is advisable that you cook up an attractive description - one that will entice visitors to your site!

Keywords

When the search engines first came on the scene, a lot of emphasis was placed on keywords. Webmasters tried to cash in, used a lot of these keyword tags, and ended up abusing the system. Slowly the search engines started valuing them less. Today keywords are not given as much importance as before but it is advised that you give it some thought while developing your site.

Keywords are still important on a number of fronts. You should write a great list of keywords that describe your business, products or services. You’ll want to include them with your Web site listing, as part of any Pay Per Click campaign, and to help you write articles, blog posts, site reviews, press releases and more! It will help keep all your messaging on target!

The key to a website’s success lies in its content. But, along with excellent content, you also want to have:

  • The right keywords that describe your content.
  • Keywords that match your content
  • And, always avoid keyword dilution, which occurs when a keyword is used too many times in your article.

5 Tips on How to Use Google Sidewiki Efficiently

Google launched Sidewiki on 23rd Sep 2009 as a part of its toolbar. Google Sidewiki appears as a sidebar in the browser and allows visitors to comment on any webpage. Its main aim was to collect useful information on any webpage from people around the world and therefore lead to better user experience.

For example, a person searching for a local restaurant can see its review in the sidebar by the previous diners.

Google Sidewiki comprises of an algorithm which pulls out the most useful and valuable comments from its database. This ensures that a visitor will see the most relevant comments on a webpage. Listed below are 5 steps for using Google Sidewiki efficiently.

1. Get Started With Google Sidewiki. Sidewiki is available in the options tab of the Google toolbar. Simply download the Google toolbar and select the option to integrate Sidewiki using the checkbox. It appears as a blue sidebar in the browser which slides open when you click on it. Google Sidewiki works perfectly well in Firefox. Although, Google’s own browser, Chrome seems to be having some issues in integrating Sidewiki.

2. Add Comments on Useful Webpages. Adding comments in Google Sidewiki is extremely easy. You need to log in to your Google account and click on the “Make an Entry” link which appears at the bottom of the sidebar. Enter your comments and publish. It is advised to add something which ads more value to the content. If your comment is relevant to the topic, then it can be placed on the first page of Sidewiki for that web page, unless you are the website owner.

3. Claim Your Position At The Top Of All Comments. If you want to place your own comment at the top, you need to verify ownership of the website by using Google Webmasters Tool. If verified, as the page owner your entry is placed at the top entry for that page. The top slot can be used to leave a note for anyone who is yet to comment.

4. Share Your Comments With Everyone. Each comment in Google Sidewiki has the option of being shared on Twitter, Facebook or emailed to any user. This enables everyone to read the Sidewiki entries without using the Google Toolbar. This option is very useful if your web page has received some great comments from visitors. Sharing these comments will pull readers from others streams like Twitter and Facebook onto your website.

5. Flush Out Negative Comments By Blocking Sidewiki. Google Sidewiki does not provide an option for blocking or deleting negative comments on a webpage. Many users have expressed their displeasure with Google for not providing an option for this purpose. If your web page is inundated with negative or irrelevant comments which are harming your website, you can block Google Sidewiki. This can be done by switching from normal http:// to secure https:// pages.

Google Sidewiki is not the first of its kind. One of the first commenting add-on, Third Voice was launched way back in 1999. AddATweet and Kutano are plug-ins which can be installed on your browser and let you tweet comments on a webpage.

Despite many competitors, Google Sidewiki has risen to become the most popular commenting tool of its time. Start your week by experimenting with this comment tool.

SEO Tips - Basic Keyword Concepts That Drive Traffic To Your Site

Filed under: Search Engine Optimization Tips Articles — Tags: , , — boqlinc @ 3:18 pm

In this article we will be discussing some SEO tips for readers/webmasters to use on their own websites.

There is a lot of webmasters out there with no basic concepts of how to promote their own websites via

SEO. In order for an internet surfer to visit your site you need to use certain keywords that the

searcher uses.

For instance, if you have a site about fishing. You will want related keywords to use to write related

content on those keywords and construct web pages for your site. I personally use a keywords research

tool called wordtacker. If you type in fishing into wordtracker it will then give a list of related keywords you can use to create content pages. Wordtracker also gives you the amount of searches a particular keyword or phrase has per day. This is very useful information as it tells you the demand for the keyword that web surfers use each day!

Once you have your keywords you’d like to use for your site, you then need to check to see what the

competition is like with these keywords at the search engines. Just type in your keyword in the search

engine and make sure you surround the phrase with quotes. The reason for this is because you want to

find out how many pages are using the exact phrase match for that keyword phrase. This gives you a good indication as to how much competition there is for your keyword phrase. The lower the competition, the better. Meaning the less amount of effort you need to do in order to have you keyword optimized web page ranking high in the search engines.

Now there are other complexities involved which I wont go into today. I will follow up this article with

the complexities you need to know in order to find out what the strength of competition is like. For

example, what web pages using the same keywords as you have good in bound links. If they have high

quality in bound links you may find it difficult to out rank these pages and their link popularity. You

just need to keep adding one way quality back links to the pages that need them the most.

It can be tough and almost a full time job looking after these pages. Making sure that they are all

ranking high in the search engines for the terms and phrases that they are optimized for! I have come

across an excellent SEO software tool that helps me to manage my sites which saves me a lot of time and

money. Its great for getting links to my site which helps my Overall Page rank for my site!

Get Ranked Higher in Google Search Engine Result Pages

Today Google is one of the most used search engines for searches today, I will provide a list of thing that you can do to increase your site search results for a targeted keyword. Using these tips will not only increase your results with Google but will help with other Search Engines such as Yahoo & MSN.

Before you start to promote your site over the internet, it is best to first find out what search term or also known as “keyword” that you want to use to build your campaign. It should be a keyword that is related to your site and one that is actually being searched for. A great keyword research tool that you can use is Google Keyword Tool. Using this tool you can type in a keyword manually or let Google analyze your site by typing in your site address. It will return all the keywords that are found on your site and you can filter the results by search volume and competition.

Once you choose your keyword or keywords you will want to implement this in your site which is known as On-Page Optimization. Ensure that your keywords Meta tag reflect that your keywords are included; the keyword should be in your Title or at least a variation. Also in your site content it is best to have this keyword in your content in the right places but don’t keywords stuff your site where it may look unnatural. When a keyword accounts for 10% of the entire page content this is too much. When using keywords in your site, Search Engines will pick up if the keywords are in bold or italic.

There are more ways to optimize your on page content but there is too much to cover in this article. I started with the basics.

Now for Off-Page Optimization also known as link building, this is one of the most important factors when it comes to your site getting ranked in Google. There are many options when building links. Generally it is best to get your site listed on high page rank pages that are relevant to your site. But that is always not so easy to do. The first link building technique I will mention is Article Submissions. Article Marketing can greatly increase your Google search exposure. You can write an article about something that is related to your site’s content, and at the end of the article you can add 3 anchor texts and 3 hyperlinks that will point back to your site. You can then submit this article to article directories and when your site is accepted into the directory you will get back links from the hyperlinks in the article. When creating the anchor texts in the articles make sure you are using your targeted keywords that I mentioned earlier.

Another link building option is submitting your website to website directories or also known as search directories. There are many free ones out there that you can submit your site to. Just like the article submission, when your site is listed on a web directory you will get a backlink from the directory which passes “juice” onto your site. When creating the information to submit your website to directories the most important thing is choosing the right Anchor Text. Make sure when you create Anchor text you are again using your targeted keywords in it. Also make at least 5 variations of the anchor text. If Google sees your site was submitted to 500 directories all with the same anchor text this may be seen as duplicate content and then you most likely will not receive credit for the backlink.

These are just a few ways that you can increase your Google Search Engine Result Page’s. There are many other ways for link building and On-Page Optimization.

One of the best directory submission services for helping your website is Nationsubmit Not only will they help grow the popularity of your site, but they will set it up for long term success in the future by establishing a trusted network of links from which the website will grow. Search Engine Optimization For Site Owners

Search Engine Optimization is a very thorough process and can be complicated. This article will definitely not teach you everything but it will point out some very important aspects of search engine optimization (SEO).

Now before I get started I need to point out a few things. You can not just throw up any webpage use SEO tactics on it and get it to a number one position in the search engines. Your website needs good quality content and needs to be resourceful to users. Also you can not have an affiliate site nor a forwarded domain. Search engines pick up on these sites and never list them. This has to be your very own site with good quality content and your own domain name.

Once all of the above are true you will be able to proceed to performing the following SEO tactics on your website. One important note is that it should be done in this particular order for simplicity and to save yourself the time of realizing that you did so much work for no reason:

For search engine optimization you should take these steps and in this particular order:

1.Find out the most important keywords that you would like your website to show up in, in a search engine. Make sure your website is related to those keywords (this is a biggie).

2.Now what you want to do is include those keywords in your website as much as possible without actually “spamming” your site with the keywords. So don’t stick the keywords where they do not belong make sure they are strategically placed.

3.You should include those keywords in the title and description of your website at least once but no more than 3 times.

4.Try to fit the keywords in the body of your website as many times as possible without sounding repetitive.

5.It is a good idea to have the keywords in your domain name, but as you already have domains you shouldn’t worry about this.

6.Any objects on your website (ie. audio, graphics, videos, etc.), should have alternate text that includes your keywords.

7.Another important place to include your keywords is the meta tags of your webpage. Meta tags are not visible to the viewer but are to the search engines. Make sure to include your keywords in your meta tags as much as possible.

8.The last and most important thing in search engine optimization (and this isn’t really search engine optimization per say) is to get backlinks to your webpage. The more links you get the better PR(pagerank) your site will get and the higher up the search engine rankings your site will go.

I hope this will help whoever applies these method. This is by far no guide on full out SEO tactics but it is a start and some of the aforementioned is very important when it comes to SEO.
